Now with Dual DACS
By using twin DACs (Digital to Analogue Converters) the AK70 Mk2 further improves upon the technical prowess of the original model. Usually only found in high-end CD players, DACs and streamers, using dual DACs is a sign of true audiophile quality. By using one DAC for the left channel and another for the right, the AK70 Mk2 offers channel precision and stereo imaging that’s well beyond most rivals.
Superior sound quality
With an improved spec come better figures and better figures mean improved sound. Signal to Noise Ratio, Crosstalk and Total Harmonic Distortion figures have all improved over the first AK70. This means get more detail, greater realism and a punchier, more dynamic sound.
A wide choice of music available
There are many HD Audio recordings already available to download on line and you may already have started a collection on your computer or NAS drive. Where the AK70 Mk2 really scores is being able to take those recordings with you – in the highest quality possible. The AK70 Mk2 supports a wide range of file formats, including WAV, FLAC, WMA, MP3, OGG, APE(Normal, High, Fast), AAC, ALAC, AIFF, DFF and DSF.
DSD support by conversion
As well as the above formats, the AK70 Mk2 also supports DSD 64 and 128 formats via conversion. Originally designed for SACD players, DSD (Direct Stream Digital) encoded music files offer the same detailed, transparent sound as other HD file formats. The AK70 uses a powerful processor to convert DSD signals to PCM for superb resolution.
Support for balanced headphones
With its 4-pole headphone socket, the AK70 Mk2 is ideal for use with balanced headphones. Using a balanced signal between the source and headphones reduces noise and interference and is especially handy on the move.
USB Audio
The AK70 Mk2 also supports USB audio digital out. You can connect up digital-input portable amps through USB to the AK70 Mk2, for the purest sound quality. The player can transfer DSD in native through DoP (DSD over PCM). It can also convert DSD into PCM for output for portable amps that do not support DoP.
Astell & Kern CD ripper
Uploading your CDs is easier than ever with the AK70 Mk2. The player lets you rip CDs with ease by linking with the AK CD-RIPPER. It supports the CD track error correction feature and the meta data (ID3TAG) auto input feature using Gracenote’s database.
Wi-Fi enabled for streaming and updates
Finally, the AK70 Mk2 has built-in Wi-Fi. This lets you choose the connection that’s best for you. For the fastest and most stable connection to your PC or Mac we’d recommend USB. As a cable-free alternative, choose Wi-Fi for streaming from NAS drives or other DLNA enabled devices such as your laptop.
Sounding better than ever, the Astell & Kern AK70 Mk2 packs a powerful punch from your pocket.
